WebNORTHEAST TEXAS MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT. The District was created in 1953 as a political subdivision. We operate in 5 counties. Initially, property taxes were a big source of funding for the District. Property taxes were levied until 1978. We are now self-supported by revenue from water sales.
